Ben Young serves as the senior pastor of Second Baptist Church where he has been on staff since 1989. A native of the Carolinas, Ben moved to Texas in 1978. He holds a Doctor of Ministry degree from Bethel University in San Diego and teaches homiletics, apologetics, and practical theology as an adjunct professor at Houston Theological Seminary. A prolific reader and writer, Ben is the author of several books, including Room for Doubt, The Ten Commandments of Dating, and Devotions for Dating Couples. In his latest book, Survive the Day, he draws from personal experiences to offer insights into not only surviving each dark day but also living every day in ways that make a person stronger, wiser, and more at peace. Ben has served as chaplain for the Houston Astros and has hosted a nationally syndicated radio talk show. In his free time, he enjoys surfing and practicing Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Ben and his wife, Krissie, have six children and 2 grandchildren.
